Board Member

Gene Ann VanWoerkom joined the Chamber Orchestra Ogden 2 years ago after attending a concert. As a Piano Teacher, and former violist she was instantly committed to keeping this fabulous Orchestra alive and performing in Ogden.

She retired from 19 years with Walmart Corp., where she developed training as a Project Manager. She served as an Advisor to the Board of Directors on behalf of the Associate Giving for Walmart Foundation. She also developed retail training for the franchised India Walmart with the in-country partner Bharti International. Gene worked with the CEO to develop New Associate onboarding and first 90-day training for all new associates across the US filming, writing, and directing over 400 short videos showing associates doing hands-on training.  She shared and adapted the training with/for Walmart Canada and ASDA (Walmart) in the UK.

She was the Keynote Speaker and Organizer for the 'Women in Leadership and 'Diversity' conferences held for Walmart’s US store management.

​

Gene has served on the Business Advisory Board for Enable Industries, even placing clients in business for hands-on training and day-to-day operations.

​

As a grandmother to 19, her life is filled with children, and she enjoys sharing her time and talents with them. She enjoys gardening, quilting, cooking, and traveling with her husband Clark.
